FAQ

Is a jeep safari in the Taurus Mountains just a sightseeing trip, or are there other adventures?

Jeep safari is not only limited to nature views; it is a full action course. As you bounce along the dirt roads of the Taurus Mountains with 4×4 off-road vehicles, you both cool off and have fun with water fights. Under the guidance of the guides, the water fights with other vehicles are accompanied by laughter throughout the tour. You also pass through mountain villages, have the chance to observe local life and taste local delicacies with short breaks in village bakeries.

How safe is the zipline experience and what is the age/weight limit?

The zipline track is equipped with a professional system prepared according to international safety standards. Participants are provided with seat belts, helmets and gloves. Connections are checked by the team before each jump. Generally, the minimum age limit is 7 and the weight limit is between 30-110 kg. These limits are set for equipment safety and the healthy functioning of the braking system. It is a safe and exciting experience for both children and adults.

Do you only stay in the river along the rafting track, or are there also stops and activities?

Rafting is not only about paddling on the water. Along the 14-km course, currents of different difficulty levels are encountered and there are stopping points in between. In some areas, you can jump into the river and take a swimming break. Guides direct you to enter the water in safe areas. In addition, at the end of the track, adrenaline increases even more with optional mini activities such as jumping into the water from the rocks. All these make the tour more memorable by taking it out of monotony.

How long are we actively mobile during the day, are breaks sufficient?

Almost all of the tour is outdoors and active. In the morning, approximately 2 hours are spent on mountain roads with jeep safari. Lunch and rest break is given in the rafting area. Zipline and rafting can take 3-4 hours in total. There are frequent short breaks in between, especially in rafting, stopping every 20-30 minutes to drink water, take photos or swim. In other words, there is constant action throughout the day, but it proceeds in a planned way without tiring the body.

How logical is it for someone who has never rafted before to do this tour? Is training or information given?

It makes perfect sense because the tour is specially organised for first time rafters. Before starting, a safety training is given for about 15 minutes. All the basics such as how to hold the oar, when to paddle or what to do if you fall in the river are shown by the instructors. In addition, there is an experienced guide on each boat and provides guidance throughout the tour. Therefore, even if you are inexperienced, an environment where you will feel safe is offered.

What are the things I should definitely take with me? Can I carry a mobile phone or wallet during the tour?

Cash (for extra photos or drinks), waterproof bags, swimsuits, towels and spare clothes should definitely be with you. It is not recommended to carry valuables such as phones and wallets. The tour company usually provides secure lockers or storage boxes. Some participants carry them with them using a waterproof phone case, but the risk of falling/damage is high. Only water-resistant equipment is recommended during rafting.

Is lunch just for filling up or is it a pleasant break? Are there special options on the menu?

Lunch is not only a compulsory meal of the tour programme, but also a relaxing break in nature. It is served in an open-air restaurant on the edge of Köprüçay, surrounded by pine trees. In addition to options such as chicken skewers, meatballs, salads, pasta, vegetable plates can be offered for vegetarians. In some places, there are also local options such as pancakes. If you inform your special dietary preferences before the tour, the menu can be customised accordingly.

How is professional photo and video shooting done during the tour and how does the pricing work?

During rafting and zipline, action cameras and professional cameras are used by the teams of the tour company. Special shots are taken for each boat or group. At the end of the day, these images are presented on a USB stick or online. Prices are usually determined per group, not per person, and can vary between 10-20 euros on average. You can use your own action camera if you wish, but you need to fix it to your helmet or vest.

What is the best season for this tour? What happens if it is too hot or rainy?

The tour is organised from the end of April to the end of October. The most ideal period is from May to September. When the weather is very hot, cool water battles during the jeep safari and ice-cold water during rafting stabilise you. In rainy weather, the tour is usually not cancelled; since rafting is already a wet activity, small rains do not pose a problem. However, in storms or serious weather conditions, it can be postponed for safety reasons. If the tour is cancelled, it is either rescheduled or refunded.

Is there internet or telephone reception during the tour? Can I stay in touch with my relatives?

Telephone reception may be poor in some parts of Köprülü Canyon and Taurus Mountains. Especially during jeep safari, you may not get a signal in mountainous areas. In the zipline and rafting area, there is a signal most of the time, but mobile data speed may be low. Since active communication will be difficult during the tour, it would be good to inform your relatives in advance. For your safety, you should not be distracted in these areas.
